During a recent government meeting, key discussions highlighted upcoming community events and initiatives aimed at enhancing public transit and accessibility in the region. Elizabeth Ward announced the groundbreaking ceremony for the Eastern Panhandle Bridal Multimodal Transit Center in Martinsburg, scheduled for Wednesday, the 26th. This project is anticipated to significantly improve public transit services in the area. Attendees are requested to RSVP by the 19th.
Additionally, Ward reminded council members about an event focused on ADA compliance in public rights of way, taking place at Charles Washington Hall on Tuesday, the 25th, from 8 AM to 12:30 PM. An RSVP is also required for this event to facilitate logistics.
Ward also shared her experiences from two recent conferences—the Smart Growth America Alumni Conference and the International Placemaking Conference—held in Baltimore. She expressed her desire to present insights from these events to the council, potentially at the first meeting in July, suggesting that the ideas discussed could be beneficial for implementation in Charlestown.
The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude towards Ricky Twyford for her service to the city, underscoring the collaborative spirit of the council as they work towards community improvements.
