Haines City Little League team makes history with championship win

The Haines City Commission convened recently to honor the local 2024 Florida Senior League championship team, celebrating their remarkable achievement in youth baseball. The team, comprised of 14 players aged 14 to 16 from Haines City and surrounding areas, triumphed in the Florida League championship after defeating North Springs Little League from Cape Coral. Their journey included victories in both district and sectional tournaments, culminating in a successful run at the state tournament where they competed against the top eight Little League teams in Florida.

During the meeting, league president Joshua Haranda shared the team's motto, \"We didn't get this far to get this far,\" emphasizing their unexpected success and the hard work that led them to the regional tournament for the first time in the league's history. The players were recognized for their dedication, teamwork, and resilience, with a focus on their strong pitching and defense as key factors in their victories.
