In a recent government meeting, the county administration outlined key achievements and future goals centered on community development, cultural engagement, economic growth, and government transparency.
The meeting highlighted a strategic planning workshop held in October 2023, which aimed to establish long-term goals and strategies for the county. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance community development, which also included events focused on hurricane preparedness and a housing fair.
Cultural and community events have been a significant focus for the administration, with the board hosting approximately 18 events, including those celebrating Black History. These initiatives aim to foster community spirit and inclusivity.
Economic and rural development efforts were also discussed, particularly the establishment of a new economic development department designed to support local businesses and attract new investments. Participation in rural county days was noted as a key strategy to highlight and support rural communities.
Additionally, the administration emphasized its commitment to government transparency and community involvement. The board has conducted numerous meetings across districts to encourage public participation in decision-making processes. So far in the fiscal year, the board has held 16 county commissioner meetings and 20 workshops or special meetings to address various community needs.
Looking ahead to fiscal year 2024, the board of county commissioners expressed its commitment to building on the successes of the previous year by focusing on community engagement, strategic development, and service improvement.
