During a recent government meeting, officials provided an update on the Riverside Golf Course, a key division of the parks and recreation department in Victoria. The golf course, which serves as the city's public golfing facility, has undergone significant enhancements aimed at improving both the player experience and operational efficiency.

The updated description of the Riverside Golf Course now includes a comprehensive practice facility featuring a full-length driving range, a short game practice area, and a five-hole practice course. This addition is expected to enrich the recreational offerings available to the community, aligning with the course's mission to provide an enjoyable and well-maintained golfing environment.

Led by golf course professional Rolando Hernandez, the Riverside Golf Course employs 11 full-time staff members, supported by an additional eight personnel dedicated to maintaining the grounds. The course aims to retain a maximum membership of 225 while allowing for non-member play through efficient tee sheet management.

Key goals for the upcoming year include enhancing the practice facility with a covered shade structure for turf hitting, as well as installing new directional signage to improve the course's appeal and uniformity. Notable highlights for 2024 also include the addition of a practice bunker, heating elements for irrigation control boxes, and expanded mowing equipment to support turf practice and programs.

These developments reflect the department's commitment to maximizing customer retention and hosting events, ultimately enhancing the livability of Riverside for both residents and visitors.
