The first item, a request from Northside Christian Church, involves a rezoning of a 1.81-acre lot from commercial heavy to commercial neighborhood. This change is aimed at facilitating the conversion of the existing church building into a daycare facility. The property, located north of Kenosha Street on Elm Place, meets all zoning requirements and is not situated in a floodplain, according to FEMA maps. The commission unanimously approved the motion, which was supported by staff recommendations.
The second item discussed was a proposed rezoning of approximately 109.55 acres from agricultural to single-family residential in the Bridal Arrow West area. However, the applicant requested to postpone this item to July 25 due to scheduling conflicts. Despite several community members signing up to speak on the matter, the commission decided to allow public comments at the next meeting when the applicant could be present.
