During the meeting, city officials provided an update on the emergency response, highlighting the activation of the emergency operation center shortly after the storm struck. The response involved coordination among various public safety agencies and city departments, with significant community support noted during the recovery phase.
The storm resulted in considerable damage, with initial estimates indicating 21 structures were destroyed, 172 sustained major damage, and 312 experienced minor damage. Public facilities were also affected, with damages estimated at around $1.7 million. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported, although some injuries occurred.
City officials emphasized the importance of community cooperation during the crisis, noting the overwhelming support from neighboring cities and organizations. They also announced the establishment of a community resource center to assist residents in navigating recovery options.
As cleanup efforts continue, residents are encouraged to utilize designated debris sites and separate waste types to facilitate the recovery process.
