Director Toth raised concerns about the condition of outdoor playground spaces, highlighting a disparity in playground quality among schools, particularly those in economically distressed areas. In response, officials confirmed the implementation of a 15-year playground replacement plan funded through a levy, ensuring that all K-5 and K-8 schools will receive necessary upgrades without relying on individual community fundraising efforts.

The board emphasized the intrinsic link between building conditions and safety measures, noting that many safety improvements are tied to building systems. A significant recommendation for safety enhancements, including intercom and security camera upgrades, is expected to be presented in the upcoming BEC 6 capital levy.
