The project will feature battery storage systems located in the northwest corner of the site, with transformer pads positioned centrally. This design has received approval from the Ukiah Valley Fire District, as well as sign-offs from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), local tribes, and various county departments.

The key innovation of the project lies in its battery storage capabilities, which will allow for the storage of solar energy generated during peak sunlight hours. This stored energy can then be deployed during peak demand periods, particularly when sunlight diminishes, thereby improving grid stability and reliability. The initiative aims to facilitate greater integration of renewable energy into the local grid, contributing to overall energy sustainability.

Renewal Properties highlighted their ongoing projects, including a 3-megawatt solar installation in Napa County and a 4.5-megawatt project in New York, both of which have transitioned former agricultural lands into sources of clean energy. The company emphasized its commitment to addressing climate change through local solutions, aiming for a broader goal of generating 6 gigawatts of renewable energy annually by 2040.
