Miranda Cask, a graduate of the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, delivered an inspiring speech at the Horizonte Instruction and Training Center's graduation ceremony for the class of 2023. Cask, originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, expressed her gratitude for receiving a prestigious award, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of all nominees.
In her address, Cask reflected on her journey since migrating to the United States in 2009, highlighting her educational achievements, including completing an ESL course and earning a master's degree in real estate development. She began her career in the Salt Lake City mayor's office of diversity and human rights as an AmeriCorps VISTA and has since gained experience in various sectors, including government, higher education, and finance.
Cask emphasized her commitment to community service, particularly in assisting low-income residents with tax filing and helping international students acclimate to life in Utah. Recently, she accepted a position as a credit risk analyst at WebBank and serves on the board for Salt Lake City's Capital Improvement Planning and Community Development Program.
Throughout her speech, Cask acknowledged the challenges she faced on her path to success, crediting her family, friends, teachers, and mentors for their unwavering support. She expressed deep gratitude to her loved ones, including her late brother, and dedicated her award to those who have inspired her journey.
