In a recent city council meeting, Dublin officials discussed the approval of Ordinance 25-24, which paves the way for a significant investment in the local economy through the establishment of a new facility by Fallback Studios. Kirby Dearth, a city staff member, confirmed that there have been no changes to the ordinance since its last reading and recommended its approval.
Kevin Kale, CEO of Fallback Studios, along with his partners, presented their plans for a state-of-the-art sound stage and production facility at 7007 Discovery Boulevard. This initiative marks the first of its kind in Ohio and aims to transform Dublin into a hub for the film and television industry. The project represents a $40 million investment, expected to create approximately 250 jobs during the construction phase and generate significant economic impact, including $40 million in earnings.
The facility is projected to have a lasting influence on the local economy, with studio operations alone anticipated to contribute over $11 million and create 72 jobs. Additionally, each major film or TV production is expected to generate around $13 million in economic impact, further solidifying Dublin's position in the industry.
Kale emphasized the importance of community support and collaboration with local organizations, including schools and universities, to foster talent in the arts and film sectors. The company plans to work closely with educational institutions to develop relevant curricula, ensuring a skilled workforce for the future.
The council expressed enthusiasm for the project, recognizing its potential to enhance Dublin's reputation and economic landscape. The approval of the ordinance is seen as a crucial step in realizing this ambitious vision, with construction expected to begin in early 2025.
