During a recent government meeting, the Mayor reminded attendees about the upcoming second annual Cultural Heritage Festival at Anthony Madison Park, scheduled for Saturday. The event will kick off at 11 AM and continue until dusk, culminating in a fireworks display at the boat launch at 10 PM. The festival promises a variety of activities, including food trucks, games for children, and music provided by a DJ.
In addition to the festival, the council approved a motion to retroactively waive fees for the Vanessa Cheerleading Group for their camp and practice sessions held at the Munessen Civic Center on July 8, 9, and 10, 2024. The motion received unanimous support from council members.
The meeting also highlighted the successful completion of two youth day camps held in collaboration with Penn State Extension at City Park. The camps, which took place in June and July, were well-received, and organizers expressed hopes for their continuation in future years.
Lastly, the Mayor announced a community flea market set for September 7, to be held at the lot across from the historical society, encouraging residents to participate and reach out with any questions. The meeting concluded with an invitation for public comments on city-related matters.
