Last Thursday, a series of community events aimed at bolstering Seattle's creative economy kicked off with a mixer in the Central District at Midtown Plaza. This event, organized by the Office of Economic Development (OED), is part of a workshop series designed to support local artists and businesses. The mixer was the second of six planned events, with future gatherings scheduled for Pioneer Square, White Center, Hillman City, and Capitol Hill.
The Central District event celebrated local businesses and creatives, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. Attendees enjoyed various activities, including a dance workshop themed around wellness, which was highlighted by the event's speakers, including James Miles from OED and Jasmine Scott of Art Noir.
In addition to the mixer, the following evening featured the Friends of the Waterfront party at Pier 62, which included an art exhibition showcasing student works from the Gage Academy of Art. The event was well-received, with attendees expressing excitement about the waterfront's future developments, set to open next year.
These initiatives reflect Seattle's commitment to enhancing its creative economy and supporting local artists and businesses through community engagement and collaboration.
