The Pflugerville City Council convened to discuss the proposed Downtown Streetscape Master Plan, a pivotal initiative aimed at revitalizing the downtown area. The plan, developed in collaboration with HAP Associates, is a key priority outlined in the city's downtown action plan.
During the presentation, Aaron Cooper from HAP Associates detailed the project's scope, which encompasses all four core districts and significant corridors, including Con Street, Railroad, and Main Street. The objective is to create a cohesive environment that enhances pedestrian and bicycle facilities, landscaping, and lighting, thereby fostering a vibrant downtown atmosphere.
The planning process was informed by previous studies and extensive community engagement. HAP Associates conducted two stakeholder meetings, two open houses, and a pop-up event at Duysham Fest, gathering over 3,500 data points from more than 300 residents. An online survey yielded 179 written comments, highlighting community preferences for the streetscape improvements.
Among the findings, Pecan Street emerged as the top priority for residents, indicating a clear direction for future development efforts. The council's discussion marks a significant step towards implementing the revitalization plan, which aims to enhance the quality of life in Pflugerville's downtown area.
