Eastern New Mexico State Fair Secures Major Funding Boost

In a recent government meeting, the city council discussed funding allocations for local events and budget adjustments for the upcoming fiscal year. The Eastern New Mexico State Fair received a recommendation for a lodgers tax funding request of $47,000, which represents a reimbursement of 50% of eligible expenses totaling $94,040. This adjustment reflects an increase in revenue compared to the original budget, indicating a positive financial outlook.

Concerns were raised regarding a significant increase in spending with a specific supplier, Baker Utility Supply, which saw its budget rise from $202,000 to $375,000. Council members expressed the need for clarification on this increase before proceeding with approval.
