The recent government meeting highlighted the success of the Smead County Fair, which attracted a significant number of attendees and vendors this year. Despite a thunderstorm on Saturday that affected the event, overall revenue remained stable compared to last year, with the fair generating approximately $19,000, similar to the previous year’s earnings.
Officials noted the importance of community involvement, emphasizing the contributions of volunteers, superintendents, and 4-H participants in making the fair a success. The meeting also touched on the second annual Own Valley Invitational, which, while not financially burdensome, provided a fun experience for participants, with each team contributing $250 to join.
Looking ahead, the FireFest, formerly known as Xfest, is scheduled for this weekend, alongside a rabbit show featuring a new group that has returned for their second year. The meeting underscored the ongoing efforts to engage the community through various events and activities.
