In a recent meeting held on August 23, 2023, the Lake County Water Authority discussed plans for a new marine facility at Hickory Point Park, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency for the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The proposed project includes a marine facility, a water resources building, and an expansion of a pole barn, all designed to better serve the community and support the Sheriff's operations.
The meeting featured presentations from two architectural firms, Powell Studio Architecture and Forefront Architecture, which have been tasked with developing concept renderings for the new facility. Powell Studio's lead designer, Ashley Perez, outlined a design that incorporates elements from existing structures at the park, such as wood accents and stonework, while also introducing unique features to reflect the identity of the Sheriff's Office. The proposed layout includes an open workspace, a conference room, and maintenance bays designed for both vehicles and boats, emphasizing accessibility and collaboration.
Forefront Architecture's vice president, Leonard, shared insights into their design approach, which was influenced by feedback from the Sheriff's personnel. Their plan includes a larger footprint of approximately 5,200 square feet, featuring a general-purpose room, dual-occupancy offices, and a work bay with ample natural light. The design aims to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment that aligns with the character of Lake County.
Both firms expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the project, highlighting the collaborative efforts with local law enforcement to ensure the facility meets the needs of the community. The discussions mark a significant step forward in the development of infrastructure that supports public safety and resource management in Lake County.
