During a recent city council meeting, officials provided a comprehensive update on ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects, emphasizing the importance of these initiatives for the city's growth and development.
City representatives outlined seven significant road projects currently underway, which include signal improvements along Grand View and the reconstruction of several streets, such as Crane, Dorado, Fadry, and Dixie. Additionally, intersection improvements at Grandview and Yukon, along with construction on Fadri North of Yukon, are also in progress.
In the realm of water infrastructure, nine critical projects are being advanced. These include a city-wide valve assessment, water meter replacements, and the expansion of the Yukon pump station. Notably, the city will assist the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in relocating six fire hydrants for their I-20 project.
Sewer infrastructure improvements are also a priority, with three major projects focusing on enhancements at the Darrington Wastewater Treatment Plant and sewer line replacements on Crane and Second Street. For the upcoming fiscal year, the city has requested $7.6 million to reconstruct 23rd and 52nd Streets.
TxDOT is concurrently working on several projects within the city, including the rehabilitation of frontage roads on Business 20 and various intersection improvements scheduled for the near future. These efforts reflect a substantial commitment to enhancing infrastructure across all council districts, ensuring the city is well-equipped to support future growth.
