During a recent government meeting, council members emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive discussion on the maintenance and funding of the local water system, particularly in South Caddo Parish. Councilman Butch highlighted the necessity for residents near the city to contribute to bond payments for the water system, as many have been receiving city services without being annexed.
The council acknowledged that the area is facing significant challenges, including dwindling aquifers, which necessitate a strategic plan for future water resource management. Vice Chair Green supported the call for an infrastructure meeting to address these pressing issues, scheduling it for September 10th, where further discussions will take place.
In addition to the infrastructure concerns, the meeting also included the passage of resolutions recognizing individuals for their contributions to the community, including De'Amaya Denae Whaley and Judge Bridal Bass Arby. Both resolutions received unanimous support from the council members present.
The discussions reflect a growing awareness of the need for sustainable water management and community engagement in local governance, as the council prepares to tackle these critical issues head-on.
