During a recent council meeting, officials from Far West announced the discontinuation of the city's recycling program due to the unavailability of the recycling facility. The council decided to renegotiate the contract, as materials placed in recycling bins would ultimately be sent to the landfill. As a result, the city will no longer charge residents for recycling services, and residents are encouraged to either return their recycling bins or have them picked up by Econo Waste.
In addition to the recycling discussion, council members reported on their recent activities. Councilman Bob Lynn shared his experience at the county fair, representing Far West in the CIRC program, and reminded residents to be cautious of children during the school season. Councilman David J. also attended the Weber County Fair and suggested that the city create an exhibit display to better promote Far West at future events.
The mayor provided updates on various meetings he attended, including those focused on housing and regional planning, noting that they were productive. He also announced a recent staff promotion and two new hires, indicating that the city’s workforce is nearing full capacity.
The meeting concluded with a brief discussion about a modified site plan for Sunset Kubota, with further details to be provided by the applicant. The council adjourned shortly after, with no additional questions from attendees.
