Community Generosity Shines as Schools Receive Over $25K in Donations

In a vibrant display of community spirit, the Yuma Union High School District's Governing Board meeting on December 12, 2024, highlighted the generosity of local donors who have significantly contributed to various school programs. As the meeting unfolded, Mr. Vianca took center stage, reading aloud a lengthy list of donations that showcased the commitment of individuals and organizations to support education in the district.

Among the notable contributions, Sabola High School received classroom supplies valued at $423.88 from DonorsChoose, while the Cibolo High School track program benefited from a substantial $10,000 donation from the 4th Avenue Gym Athletic Fund, earmarked for a new pole vault. Additionally, Stephen McLennan contributed $9,000 for a pole vault system, further enhancing the school's athletic facilities.

The meeting also acknowledged smaller yet impactful donations, such as an assortment of cookies and candy provided by local community members for the Cibolo High School Photography Club's fundraiser, valued at $84.53. Meanwhile, Healy Ridge High School received a variety of donations, including a CNC router machine worth $550 for its engineering department and $713.64 in hygiene supplies for its student pantry.

Cofa High School was not left out, with contributions totaling over $3,000 for various programs, including a $1,390 donation from the Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association for the Biomedical Technology Class and a $1,000 gift from the Thunderbirds to support the Girls Golf Team.
