Chandler honors veterans with Wreaths Across America event and holiday donation drives

The City of Chandler Council Meeting held on December 12, 2024, featured a series of community-focused announcements and initiatives aimed at enhancing local engagement and support during the holiday season.

The meeting began with a highlight of the upcoming Wreaths Across America event scheduled for Saturday at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery. This annual event, organized by the Exchange Club and supported by volunteers from across the East Valley, honors veterans by placing wreaths adorned with red bows on their graves. Community members were encouraged to participate in this meaningful tribute to those who have served the country.

Following this, the council discussed various opportunities for residents to give back during the holiday season. The third annual Golden Neighbors holiday celebration is set for December 18, aimed at connecting with and supporting seniors in the community. Donations for this event will be accepted until December 16.

Additionally, the Chandler Library's Community Care initiative is also collecting donations through December 16, with drop-off locations available at all library branches. The Chandler Fire Department is running its annual "Stuff the Truck" toy drive, which allows residents to contribute new, unwrapped toys and gift cards at fire stations until Friday.

The council emphasized the importance of community involvement and encouraged residents to consider various ways to support their neighbors and local nonprofits during this festive time.
