On June 15th, families are invited to celebrate Juneteenth at the Black in Mayberry's Juneteenth Festival, taking place at Recreation Park from 12 PM to 6 PM. The event will feature a variety of activities including food from black-owned businesses, live music, visual arts, performances, and contests.

As the city gears up for its July 4th celebration, residents can pick up wristbands for access to events from June 3rd through July 3rd at the clubhouse. Adult residents with a valid 2024 recreation ID card can obtain four free wristbands, with additional wristbands available for $5 each. Children aged two and under can attend for free, but no complimentary wristbands will be issued on July 4th, when they will also cost $5 each. Residents are reminded to bring their recreation ID cards for priority seating at the softball field on the holiday.

El Segundo's summer camps are now open for registration, and the summer concerts in the park series will kick off in July. Additionally, the Aquatic Center will host pool activities, including an inflatable slide on June 14th from noon to 3 PM. Hilltop Pool is now open on weekends and will operate daily starting June 10th through August 25th.

For those interested in reading, the El Segundo Library will run a summer reading program from June 10th to August 10th, with a book discussion planned for July. Patrons can check out books from the reference desk starting June 1st.

Safety is also a priority this summer; the El Segundo Police Department is offering a free e-bike safety course on June 8th from 10 AM to noon. Residents can register for this course at elsegundopd.org.

Lastly, a workshop on eco-friendly gardening practices will be held on June 22nd at the George E Gordon Clubhouse, focusing on drought-tolerant plants and sustainable gardening methods.
