In a recent government meeting, significant adjustments to teacher salaries and staffing were announced as part of the operating budget for fiscal year 2025. The plan includes targeted salary scale adjustments for teachers at steps 10 through 30, alongside support scale adjustments for grades 4 through 8. Employees in these categories will receive a $1 per hour salary adjustment in addition to a 4.5% salary increase.
The budget also reflects a 70% share of increased healthcare costs, utilizing rates based on the Key Advantage 500 plan. Notably, the operating budget will see a net increase of 17.5 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions, which includes the creation of three new roles: an assistant principal to be shared between Matoaka and Norge schools, a full-time bilingual specialist, and an additional gifted resource teacher for kindergarten through second grade.
The total funding allocated for all programs, including operating grants, state-operated programs, and child nutrition services, amounts to $198,066,000. The meeting concluded with an invitation for board members to ask questions regarding the proposed budget adjustments.
