During a recent graduation ceremony at Central Valley High School, a heartfelt tribute was paid to graduates pursuing military careers, including Rowan Zillion (Army), Ben Taylor (Navy), Evan Stone, and Max Hill (both Marines). The event featured a performance by the school band, directed by Wendy Lewis, which played a medley of theme songs from the five branches of the U.S. military. Attendees were invited to stand in recognition of their service as each branch's theme was performed, including the Caisson Song for the Army, \"Anchors Aweigh\" for the Navy, the Air Force Song, the Marines Hymn, and \"Semper Paratus\" for the Coast Guard.
The ceremony also celebrated academic excellence, with Jordan Elizabeth Hunter being recognized as the valedictorian of the class of 2024. Hunter, who achieved an impressive final percentage of 111.52%, plans to attend Duquesne University to pursue a career as a physician assistant. The event highlighted both the commitment of students to serve their country and the academic achievements of the graduating class.
