The Minooka Community High School Madrigals took the spotlight at the recent MCHS Board of Education meeting, showcasing their talent and dedication with a lively performance. Choir director Rita Cameron highlighted the group’s recent successes, including two standout performances over the weekend and a sold-out magical dinner that attracted over 400 attendees.
Cameron described the magical dinner as a unique blend of entertainment and dining, where guests are treated to a Renaissance-themed banquet complete with a humorous story, "The Mask," featuring a jester and a royal court. The Madrigals, composed of juniors and seniors, performed a repertoire of 23 memorized songs, demonstrating their hard work and commitment to the arts.
In addition to their performances, Cameron noted the students' involvement in various music festivals and upcoming events, including auditions for a musical and a vocal jazz season starting in January. The choir's next concert is scheduled for February 15, with another performance on May 8, inviting the community to witness their talents.
The meeting underscored the importance of arts education in the school, celebrating the Madrigals' achievements and the enriching experiences they provide to both participants and audiences alike.
