Under the bright lights of the Leander ISD Board meeting, excitement filled the air as trustees celebrated the remarkable achievements of local students in the arts and athletics. The atmosphere buzzed with pride as it was announced that all six traditional high school marching bands qualified for the prestigious 2024 UIL State Marching Band Contest. The Leander Lions secured an impressive third place, while Rouse High School claimed second, and Cedar Park High School triumphed with a sixth consecutive first-place finish. Vandergrift High School also shone brightly, earning second place in their category. The success didn’t stop there; both Cedar Park and Leander made it to the finals at the Bands of America Grand Nationals, with Cedar Park finishing fifth and Leander coming in twelfth. The board expressed heartfelt congratulations to all the marching bands for their outstanding season, emphasizing the excellence of each program.

Transitioning from the field to the court, the meeting also highlighted the achievements of the Leander ISD volleyball team, which brought home the silver medal from the 2024 UIL Volleyball State Championship in the 5A division.
