Residents demand action on mud and high water bills at Victoria Oaks Trailer Park

City Council members in Victoria, Texas, expressed their appreciation for ongoing partnerships between city and county officials during the December 17 meeting, highlighting the collaborative efforts that have led to successful community initiatives.

The meeting featured a notable address from a resident, Michael Vandura, who raised concerns about living conditions at the Victoria Oaks Trailer Park. Vandura described the park as a "mud pit" after rain, citing inadequate management responses to persistent issues. He also reported alarming water bill discrepancies, with some residents facing charges up to $800 a month, leading to fears of eviction for those who might complain. Vandura called for a moratorium on evictions, particularly during the holiday season, emphasizing the need for fair treatment of tenants.

In addition to Vandura's testimony, the council conducted a public hearing on the 2023 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), which outlines the city's use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Community Development Planner Zach Wendell presented the report, noting that it serves as an accountability measure for how the city allocates federal funds.
