Lakeville Area Schools celebrated a series of achievements during its Board of Education meeting on November 26, 2024, highlighting the accomplishments of students and staff alike.

The meeting kicked off with the announcement of the November Students of the Month: Julian Doherty from Small Wonders Preschool, Aubrey Clements from Lakeview Elementary, and Kyra Brockman from Century Middle School. This recognition program allows nominations from the entire Lakeville community, showcasing the talents and efforts of young learners.

In addition to student accolades, the district also recognized its Staff of the Month. Suleikha Omar, a district-wide school success liaison, and Sophal Elk, chief custodian at Orchard Lake Elementary, were honored for their contributions to the school community.

The meeting also celebrated two educators, Christina Huddleston and John Gilmer, who were named Education Minnesota Lakeville Educators of Excellence. Their recognition places them in contention for the 2025 Minnesota Teacher of the Year award, reflecting their dedication and commitment to student success.

Athletic achievements were also a highlight, with the Lakeville South High School girls volleyball team clinching the 2024 Class 4A State Championship title after a thrilling match against Champlin Park. The Cougars' victory was a testament to their skill and teamwork throughout the season.

Furthermore, National Signing Day saw 23 student-athletes from Lakeville North and South sign letters of intent to pursue collegiate athletics, marking a significant milestone in their academic and athletic careers.

Lastly, the Blazing Cats adapted soccer team finished strong, securing second place at the state tournament, showcasing the talent and determination of its players.
