Lathrop Senior Center to host Christmas Day gathering with Santa and community activities

During the Kettering City Council meeting on December 10, 2024, a special presentation highlighted the upcoming Christmas Day gathering at the Charles Lathram Senior Center. Dawn Kirchner, the volunteer coordinator, shared details about the event, which will take place from 11 AM to 2 PM. This marks the second year the event will be hosted at this location, chosen for its ample free parking, accessibility via public transportation, and facilities that cater to all ages.

Kirchner emphasized the spirit of the season, focusing on community giving and appreciation. The event promises a festive atmosphere with hot meals, sweet treats, holiday music, and a visit from Santa Claus, who will be available for photos with attendees. The gathering remains free for all community members, thanks to the support from Day Air Credit Union and numerous volunteers who assist in various capacities, from food preparation to event cleanup.

Kirchner also encouraged community members to participate, whether by attending or volunteering, and provided information on how to get involved. The council members expressed their gratitude for the event and acknowledged Kirchner's contributions as she prepares to transition from her role as volunteer coordinator, although she will continue to serve the city in other capacities.
