Officer Ryan Drew honored for heroic rescue during Dixie house fire

The Village of Beecher Board Meeting held on January 13, 2025, commenced with a significant recognition of local law enforcement. President Myers opened the meeting by introducing a presentation to Officer Ryan Drew of the Beecher Police Department, who was awarded for his heroic actions during a house fire incident on December 12, 2024.

Chief Felichette highlighted Officer Drew's bravery, noting that he was the first responder to the fire on Dixie Street. Upon arrival, Drew learned that an elderly woman lived alone in the home. Despite the danger, he forced entry into the burning structure, searching for the resident amidst heavy smoke. His efforts were commendable, as he ultimately suffered from smoke inhalation and required treatment on the scene.

The Chief emphasized the importance of Drew's actions, stating that his quick thinking and determination to ensure the safety of the elderly resident were exemplary. After the fire was extinguished by the Beecher Fire Protection District, Drew returned to duty, assisting with traffic control during the emergency.

The meeting concluded with a formal presentation of the Beecher Police Department commendation to Officer Drew, recognizing his courage and dedication to public safety. This acknowledgment not only celebrated Drew's individual bravery but also underscored the commitment of the Beecher Police Department to serve and protect the community.
