Massachusetts launches $20 million Literacy Launch initiative to boost early reading skills

Applications for grants are now open for districts to apply for resources such as early literacy screening assessments and funding for literacy coaches and reading specialists. The initiative also aims to foster partnerships with community-based preschool providers to align curriculum and instruction.

Superintendent of Clinton Public Schools, Dr. Meyer, praised the efforts of the school staff in overcoming challenges posed by the pandemic. He highlighted the district's success in reducing chronic absenteeism and implementing high-quality instructional materials, including the Appleseeds curriculum. Dr. Meyer acknowledged the leadership of Principal Megan Silvio and her team in driving the early literacy initiatives at Clinton Elementary.
