McKinney plans major renovation for Roy and Helen Hall Library with new planetarium and youth spaces

The McKinney City Council Work Session on January 21, 2025, unveiled an ambitious reimagining of the Roy and Helen Hall Library, aiming to transform it into a vibrant community hub. One of the standout additions is a 26-foot planetarium, which will offer educational programs and entertainment, filling a significant gap in Collin County's cultural offerings. The library will also feature a 2,500 square foot exhibit space for traveling displays, further enriching the community's access to diverse educational experiences.

The project is set to begin construction in May 2025, with an anticipated completion in summer 2026. This renovation is expected to significantly increase library attendance and engagement, building on the 15,000 visitors who participated in programs in 2024.
