San Fernando residents facing challenges with water bills will have an opportunity to ease their financial burden as the city council encourages enrollment in a payment arrangement program. This initiative aims to help residents manage their water account balances before fines and penalties resume on January 1. City staff will be available for sign-ups on Saturday, December 7, from 9 AM to noon at City Hall, providing an additional chance for those unable to visit during regular hours.
In other significant updates, the San Fernando Police Department reported a successful undercover operation at Target, resulting in multiple arrests for shoplifting. This collaboration between police and Target's loss prevention team underscores the city's commitment to community safety and deterring crime.
Additionally, the police department conducted a DUI checkpoint on November 15, screening 695 vehicles, issuing citations to 31 unlicensed drivers, and making two DUI arrests. Looking ahead, the department plans to enhance safety during the holiday shopping season by deploying additional officers in commercial areas following Thanksgiving.
These initiatives reflect the city council's ongoing efforts to support residents and maintain public safety as the community approaches the holiday season.
