Stewart Elementary launches Rocket Club with hands-on aerospace learning and family launch party

Stewart Elementary is launching into the new semester with its Rocket Club, a program designed to provide students with hands-on learning experiences in aerospace. The club recently celebrated its first launch party, where students showcased the rockets they built over the past few weeks to their families.

During the event, parents had the opportunity to witness their children's achievements as the rockets soared into the sky. "We were launching rockets so our parents could see what we were doing in Rocket Club," one student shared, highlighting the excitement of the day.

Rocket Club, which began as a pilot program last year, has evolved into a full-year initiative thanks to a partnership with STEM Core at Texas Tech University. The program aims to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among students. "I learned that while you're in space, it makes your muscles weaker," explained Dakota, a participant in the club, emphasizing the educational aspects of the program.

The collaboration between Stewart Elementary and Texas Tech is part of a broader effort to engage students in STEM fields and foster a love for learning. As the Rocket Club continues, it promises to inspire young minds and encourage future exploration in aerospace and beyond.
