In the heart of West Sacramento, excitement buzzed through the air as city officials unveiled a new initiative aimed at bolstering local businesses. During a recent government meeting, the launch of the Small Business Accelerator Program was announced, a project years in the making and now funded through Measure N allocations for Equitable Economic Development activities.
The program features several components designed to support local entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on the food and beverage sector. A standout feature is the food and beverage facility enhancement grant, which offers up to $15,000 for eligible businesses to improve their operations ahead of the upcoming baseball season. This grant can cover a range of expenses, from refreshing dining spaces to upgrading kitchen equipment, making it accessible for small businesses defined as having 15 or fewer full-time employees and annual revenues of $3 million or less.

They encourage community members to share this opportunity with local businesses, emphasizing that more information is available on the city’s economic development website.
In addition to the enhancement grant, the program includes a permit fee assistance initiative, a vandalism relief program offering up to $5,000 for businesses affected by vandalism, and a facade grant program aimed at improving storefronts. A microloan program is also in the works, set to launch later this year.
City officials are actively promoting these initiatives through various channels, including partnerships with the local Chamber of Commerce and outreach during business license renewals.
The meeting also touched on the progress of the Club Pheasants project, which has entered an exclusive negotiation phase with Grama Core Development. This partnership aims to transform the historic site into a vibrant space for restaurants and retail, fostering community engagement while honoring the property’s significance.
As the city moves forward with these initiatives, the focus remains on enhancing the local economy and supporting businesses in preparation for an anticipated increase in foot traffic. With baseball season just around the corner, West Sacramento is poised for a revitalization that promises to benefit both residents and local entrepreneurs alike.
