The workshop gave staff and the public an opportunity to weigh immediate, low-to-moderate-cost repairs against a previously proposed larger expansion. Dozens of residents urged rapid action so meetings would stop rotating among off-site venues; others said a careful needs assessment should proceed in parallel to avoid repeatedly spending on short-term fixes. Several residents proposed approaching Charlotte County about using the county courthouse or other county-owned space as an interim or permanent location.

Council direction was procedural rather than a formal vote: staff was asked to gather written comments from the public, refine repair cost estimates for the 1978 portion and roof, help small local contractors register with procurement, and report back at a future council meeting with recommended immediate repairs and a proposed scope for a separate long-term needs assessment. Joan Leveau said staff will accept written input and that public comments and the meeting recording will be used to compile a recommendations packet.

Items discussed but not decided included: selling the historic building with preservation covenants; retaining the facade and rebuilding behind it; consolidating city functions at a new site; negotiating with Charlotte County for use or acquisition of courthouse space; and declaring nearby blighted parcels for redevelopment. No ordinance, contract award or formal appropriation was approved at the workshop.
