Tampa residents clash over proposed high-rise development near Bayshore Boulevard synagogue

Tampa City Council is facing a pivotal decision regarding a proposed development project that has sparked significant community debate. During the meeting on January 28, 2025, residents voiced strong opinions both in favor of and against the construction of a new building adjacent to the Congregation Road of Shalom synagogue.

Paula Perry, a long-term resident and garden club member, presented a petition signed by over 750 residents opposing the project, citing its inconsistency with the neighborhood's character and the potential for increased density in a coastal high hazard area.
