Hanford seeks approval for new tap room with 40 draft lines on West 6th Street

The Hanford Planning Commission recently reviewed a proposal for a new tap room at 18120 West 6th Street, which aims to enhance the downtown area by offering a unique social space. The applicant is seeking a Type 40 ABC liquor license, which allows for the sale of beer and certain non-alcoholic beverages, but prohibits wine and distilled spirits.

This project is set within the Downtown Mixed Use Zone District, aligning with the city’s general plan for the area. The proposed renovations will transform the existing building into a vibrant venue featuring a bar counter, seating areas, and a kitchen capable of serving a limited menu of 10 to 12 items, including sandwiches and snacks. Notably, the design will incorporate elements that celebrate Hanford's history, such as original hardwood floors and vintage decor.

The tap room will have a total of 40 draft lines, sourcing beer from various breweries rather than brewing on-site. Importantly, minors will be allowed in the establishment, provided that valid identification is checked to prevent underage alcohol sales. All staff involved in alcohol service will be required to complete responsible beverage service training.

This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to fostering a lively downtown atmosphere while ensuring compliance with local regulations and responsible service practices. The Planning Commission's approval of this project could mark a significant step in revitalizing the area and providing residents with a new gathering spot.
