Putnam County's Commission Meeting on January 28, 2025, showcased a vibrant discussion on community development, particularly focusing on the Stephen A. Andes Recreation Enhancement Grant Fund. This year marks the ninth iteration of the grant, which utilizes a portion of hotel-motel tax revenue to support local municipalities and nonprofits in enhancing recreational facilities and beautifying public spaces.
During the meeting, representatives from various towns presented their funding requests, highlighting the positive impact of previous grants. The City of Winfield, for instance, is seeking $10,711.64 to add a swing set and a flagpole at their community center, while the Town of Buffalo aims to carry over last year's unspent funds to complete a soccer field project and add swings to existing parks.
