Trousdale County is gearing up for a promising summer season at its local pool, with 16 lifeguards currently signed up for certification. This marks a significant improvement over last year, where only three out of 15 applicants successfully completed the training. The pool management is optimistic about staffing levels this year, thanks to a new policy allowing lifeguards to work up to 29 hours a week. This change aims to alleviate last year's staffing shortages, which forced some lifeguards into overtime. "If they all make it, we shouldn't have any issues at all," said a pool manager, highlighting the importance of a full team for a smooth operation.

In addition to lifeguard recruitment, preparations for the pool's opening are underway. The team is working on maintenance tasks, including pressure washing and setting up a new compactor at the convenience center. The compactor is expected to be operational soon, further enhancing the facility's readiness for the summer.

As the swim tests approach, the management is urging any potential applicants to submit their paperwork by the upcoming Friday deadline. With a proactive approach and a dedicated team, Trousdale County is poised for a successful pool season ahead.
