The government meeting held on January 30, 2025, focused on the New Boundary Recommendations for the Streamwood Network - Unite U-46 in Illinois. The meeting outlined significant changes to school boundaries in response to the closure of Hanover Countryside School and the opening of new educational facilities.
The meeting began with a review of the boundary adjustments for various schools. For Laurel Hill, no changes were made. However, Parkwood will absorb the southwest section along Lake Street from Heritage, while Heritage will retain its central core. The adjustments also include transferring parts of Heritage west of North Bartlett Road to Sunnydale, which will now encompass the southern portion of Oak Hill.

Subscribe for Free Ridge Circle will maintain its core and expand to include the northern part of Oak Hill. The closure of Hanover Countryside School necessitated the reassignment of its students. The southern section will now attend Bartlett Elementary, while the central core will move to Oak Hill, and the northern section will be redirected to Glenbrook.
Glenbrook will keep its core area but will see some students from the neighborhood at the corner of Route 59 and Schaumburg Road switch to Timber Trails. Timber Trails will maintain its area while absorbing sections from Lincoln. Additionally, students from a section of Elgin across from Hilltop will now attend Hilltop instead of Timber Trails.
The southeast corner of Hilltop, located at the intersection of Route 20 and Route 59, will shift to Liberty. The meeting also addressed the district-wide changes affecting middle schools, including the closure of Abbott and Ellis schools. A new middle school will open in Bartlett, with its boundaries previously established and unchanged.
Eastview will transition to an east-west orientation, absorbing students from Horizon Elementary and adjusting its northern boundary. Taft will relinquish Horizon to Eastview while gaining portions of Streamwood shifting to Sunnydale. A notable positive change is the introduction of dual language programming at Canton and Kenyon Woods, allowing students to remain within their zones.
The new Elgin Middle School on Rarson Road will incorporate most of Ellis and parts of Larson, while Larson will maintain its downtown Elgin sections. Finally, students from the closing Abbott School will be redistributed between Kimball and Kenyon Woods.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive overview of the boundary changes, emphasizing the importance of these adjustments in accommodating the needs of the student population and enhancing educational opportunities within the district. Further discussions and follow-up actions are expected as the implementation of these changes approaches.
