Cass County students unveil new visitor guide highlighting local attractions and history

The Cass County Commission meeting on January 24, 2025, highlighted an exciting initiative aimed at boosting local tourism through the development of a comprehensive visitor's guide. The project, spearheaded by students from the Caskier Center, has been in the works for two years and is designed to showcase the attractions and offerings of Cass County to potential visitors from nearby cities like Kansas City and Joplin.

Amy Schroeder, a marketing teacher at Caskier Center, introduced the project and the students involved, Anna Tews and Bethany Sharp. They explained how the guide evolved from a class project into a more focused effort to present the county's diverse offerings in an appealing format. The students emphasized their goal of making the guide accessible to a wide audience, including families, couples, and seniors, by incorporating various elements such as local history, shopping, dining, and activities.

The guide features updated visuals and engaging content to attract a broader range of visitors. Tews and Sharp noted that they have been working on the project since August and plan to continue refining it in the coming year. Additionally, they will be competing in DECA competitions, which could further enhance the project's visibility and impact.

This initiative reflects Cass County's commitment to promoting local tourism and highlights the valuable contributions of students in community development efforts. The visitor's guide is expected to play a significant role in attracting tourists and showcasing the unique experiences available in the area.
