Revere approves two new technology warehouses amid Irving oil transportation plans

In the heart of Revere, city officials gathered for a planning board meeting that unveiled ambitious developments poised to reshape the local landscape. As discussions unfolded, the focus turned to the construction of two significant technology warehouses on the north side of Route 1A, just a stone's throw from Boston. One of these structures will span an impressive 300,000 gross square feet, while the other will cover 275,000 square feet, marking a substantial investment in the area’s industrial capacity.

The meeting highlighted the transformation of a former oil tanker site, previously associated with Global, into a new technology warehouse of 77,000 square feet. This redevelopment signals a shift from traditional uses to modern facilities aimed at attracting tech businesses to Revere. The existing oil tanks from Irving will remain operational, ensuring continuity in the area’s industrial activities while the new warehouses rise around them.

In addition to the warehouses, the board discussed a preliminary site plan for a retail component, which will include a 10,000 square foot space. However, significant infrastructure work is needed before this project can move forward, including the relocation of the entrance drive.

The conversation also touched on the status of a proposed trailer park, which is currently on hold, and plans for a new 54-unit condominium with a rooftop restaurant between 550 and 560 Boulevard. This project is in the environmental permitting stages and promises to enhance the waterfront area, which has seen a transformation from a neglected asphalt expanse to a space adorned with native vegetation.
