Seniors Ryan Bancherbeg and Joaquin Arce shine in drama and regional college auditions

The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District Board of Education meeting on January 28, 2025, highlighted significant achievements in the arts and athletics, as well as community engagement initiatives.

During the meeting, two seniors, Ryan Bancherbeg and Joaquin Arce, were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the school's drama club and musical performances. Both students recently participated in the Mid Atlantic Regional College auditions at Rowan University, where Ryan received 20 callbacks and Joaquin received 23, showcasing their talent to college recruiters from around the country. Their dedication to the arts was further exemplified by their involvement in the recent production of "The Adams Family."

The meeting also celebrated the success of the unified production of "Elf Junior," which brought together students from the drama department and the unified program. This event was noted for its family-friendly appeal and strong community support, alongside the winter concerts that drew large audiences.

In sports, the winter teams are performing well, with the boys' basketball team leading their division and the girls' team also achieving notable success. The fencing teams are heading to states, and the cheer team is preparing for nationals. The boys' swim team made history by winning six county records at a recent meet, further emphasizing the school's athletic prowess.

Community involvement was highlighted through various fundraising efforts by the Class of 2026, including a successful cookie dough sale and a pie contest that engaged students and teachers alike. Additionally, the Key Club raised over $300 during their annual cookie walk, and the 100th County FFA is collecting supplies for a local animal rescue.

Looking ahead, the school is preparing for upcoming events, including J Prom in March, themed "A Night in Paris," and a leadership summit planned for the same month. The meeting underscored the school's commitment to fostering a vibrant community through arts, athletics, and service initiatives.
