Students shine as Oak Ridge launches hands-on broadcasting program Good Morning Oak Ridge

In a vibrant display of creativity and collaboration, students at Royal Oak Schools are diving into the world of broadcasting, showcasing their talents and building essential skills through a unique program. During the recent Royal Oak School Board meeting, educators highlighted the exciting opportunities available to students from kindergarten through eighth grade as part of their broadcasting initiative.

The program, aptly named "Good Morning Oak Ridge," allows students to step into the spotlight, gaining hands-on experience in various roles, from on-camera talent to technical support. Each week, students have the chance to participate in live broadcasts, learning not only how to present news but also how to operate cameras, sound equipment, and video mixers. This immersive experience is designed to foster public speaking skills and boost confidence, with many students transforming from nervous beginners to enthusiastic broadcasters.

The broadcasts are recorded during lunch on Thursdays, with the final product airing on Fridays. Students eagerly anticipate their turn in front of the camera, where they not only announce school news and birthdays but also develop their writing skills by crafting scripts.
