Lieutenant Drew Hansen sworn in at Arlington Heights Fire Department ceremony

In a heartfelt ceremony at the Arlington Heights Village Hall, the community gathered to celebrate a significant milestone in the career of Drew Hansen, who was officially sworn in as the new fire lieutenant of the Arlington Heights Fire Department. The atmosphere was filled with pride and anticipation as family, friends, and colleagues witnessed this momentous occasion.

Lieutenant Hansen's journey began in February 2014 when he joined the department as a firefighter. Over the years, he has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience, earning numerous certifications that have equipped him for his new role. His qualifications include advanced operations firefighter, paramedic, fire apparatus engineer, and fire service instructor, among others. Hansen's dedication to his profession is further highlighted by his academic achievements, holding two associate degrees in emergency medical services and fire service operations, as well as a bachelor’s degree in biology and pre-medicine from Augustana College.

Beyond his technical skills, Hansen has taken on leadership roles within the firefighting community. He serves as the union president for Local 3105 and is the director of health, safety, and education for the Associated Firefighters of Illinois. His commitment to public service was recognized when he was appointed by Illinois legislators to represent a statewide organization of EMS responders on a committee established by Governor JB Pritzker.

As the ceremony progressed, Hansen's wife, Sharon, stood by his side, ready to pin his badge—a symbolic gesture marking his new responsibilities. With a raised hand, Hansen took the oath of office, pledging to support the constitutions of both the United States and Illinois and to faithfully discharge his duties to the best of his ability.
