Senator Fuller honors Captain William Galt's posthumous valor during Italy's Battle of Via Cocheta

The Montana Senate convened on February 3, 2025, to address various legislative matters and recognize significant contributions from local citizens. The session began with Senator Fuller honoring Captain William Wiley Galt, a native of Judith Basin County, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery during World War II. This acknowledgment highlighted the sacrifices made by Montanans in defense of their country.

Several senators took the opportunity to introduce guests from local schools and organizations, including representatives from the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and SkillsUSA programs. These introductions underscored the involvement of youth in leadership and vocational training initiatives across the state.

The Senate also moved forward with legislative business, as the Judiciary Committee reported on several bills, recommending that Senate Bills 84, 130, 402, 14, 160, 156, and 137 pass, while also noting amendments to Senate Bills 135 and 45. Additionally, the State Administration Committee recommended the passage of Senate Bills 154, 1209, 707, and 90, with amendments to Senate Bills 94, 508, and 303.

In a further update, the House of Representatives communicated the passage of multiple House Bills, which were read and transmitted to the Senate for concurrence. This included House Bills 70, 71, 85, 117, 140, 162, 166, 180, 206, and 241.

The session concluded with a motion to resolve into a Committee of the Whole for the second reading of Senate Bill 164, introduced by Senator Fuller. This bill, along with others, will be considered in the coming sessions as the legislature continues its work on important state issues.
