Iredell County's Board of Commissioners has taken a significant step towards boosting local economic growth by approving an economic development incentive grant for RMC Advanced Technologies Incorporated. During the meeting held on February 4, 2025, the board unanimously supported Project Nano, which involves a substantial investment of $21 million in manufacturing equipment over the next five years.
Craig Goodson from the Iredell County Economic Development Commission presented the project, highlighting its potential to create a minimum of 17 new jobs in the area. The investment will occur in two phases: the first phase will see $10 million invested by December 31, 2026, generating at least seven jobs, while the second phase will involve an additional $11 million investment by December 31, 2029, creating at least ten more jobs. Although the wages for these positions will be slightly below the county average, they will exceed the city's wage levels.
