Tipton City Council secures $2M bond for new youth baseball facilities

Tipton City Council has set an ambitious agenda for 2025, highlighted by significant infrastructure improvements and community projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents. During the recent State of the City Address, city officials outlined key initiatives that promise to reshape the community's landscape.

A major focus will be the reconstruction of West Street, which will begin at Madison and extend to South Street. This project, funded through the Community Crossings Grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation (NDOT), aims to upgrade not only the road itself but also the underlying utilities, ensuring a robust infrastructure for years to come.

In addition to road improvements, the city has successfully completed the next phase of its trails project, which began in 2022. This initiative, supported by previous administrations, aims to enhance recreational opportunities and promote community engagement through improved connectivity.

The Tipton Police Department has also seen positive developments, returning to full staffing levels within six months after starting the year with four vacancies. This achievement reflects the city’s commitment to public safety and community well-being.

A $2 million bond has been secured to invest in youth baseball facilities, marking a significant step towards addressing the community's recreational needs. While baseball remains the priority, city officials are also considering future expansions for softball and soccer facilities.

The Tipton Municipal Golf Course is set for improvements under new leadership. Phil Beaver has been appointed as the golf superintendent, and Micah Voorhis will take over as the director of golf. Both are expected to bring a business-oriented approach to the course, aiming to enhance its operations and revenue generation.

Lastly, the city is making strides in park improvements, including resurfacing basketball courts and upgrading backboards to encourage greater community use. A grant has also been secured for new playground equipment, representing one of the largest investments in park facilities in recent years.
