Wichita Falls Mayor Tim Short proclaims Black History Month and honors local achievements

The City Council meeting on February 4, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas, highlighted significant community achievements and proclamations, showcasing the city's commitment to honoring its residents and promoting awareness on critical issues.

Armando Orozco, a dedicated crew chief with 31 years of service, was named Employee of the Month. His colleagues praised his extensive knowledge of the city's maintenance operations, emphasizing his role in training new staff and ensuring the smooth functioning of essential services. Orozco received a letter of appreciation and a dinner voucher in recognition of his hard work and commitment.

A notable moment came when Kiowa Martinez was awarded the Advocate of the Year by the Texas Council on Family Violence for her outstanding work in violence prevention and community engagement. Lastly, the council celebrated Lorelai Mitchell, the first female Eagle Scout in the Northwest Texas Council, proclaiming January 23, 2025, as Lorelai Mitchell Eagle Scout Day.
